A couple of men meet in a bar and discuss the legend of the vampires in and around the nearby village of Salem’s Lot. One For The Road is without any doubt Stephen King’s scariest story and can be found in the collection Night Shift.
Vanessa Morgan – Drowned Sorrow
Drowned Sorrow by Vanessa Morgan is the scariest novel of the year. Drowned Sorrow has an extremely creepy atmosphere, an strange village where the inhabitants drink nothing but water, a mysterious sect, and a lake with half-dead people in it. A mother and her teenage daughter visit the village and it is unsure if they will ever be able to get out again. It’s no wonder that this new horror author has been called the female version of Stephen King.
